Active Directory (AD) is a foundational technology that supports identity and access management at UConn.  We strive to keep it, and all of our technologies, up-to-date as this generally provides a more robust and secure environment.  We assessed the current design of our AD infrastructure in preparation for an AD version upgrade and have elected to transition from a physical/virtual hybrid to a purely virtual environment.  This is consistent with the contemporary evolution of most services and will provide full performance while formally decoupling the AD service from underlying physical server considerations.  We are actively engaged in project planning for both the version upgrade and infrastructure changes.  We will communicate with application owners that may be impacted in order to provide additional information and to identify dependencies before executing any changes.
