Two artificial intelligence (AI) services are available to UConn employees. Microsoft has released Copilot, an AI assistant similar to ChatGPT, and Copilot for Microsoft 365, which integrates with core Microsoft 365 applications. Both apply large language model (LLM) techniques to reliable information sources across the Internet. They analyze, summarize, and generate content that is comparable to material produced by a human. Copilot for Microsoft 365 can also safely tap into the institutional data that an individual has access to for enhanced relevance. As long as you are signed in with UConn credentials, your prompts, the information retrieved, and the responses generated remain within the Microsoft 365 service boundary and are not used to train the underlying AI models.
You can access Copilot at copilot.microsoft.com; sign in with your UConn email for data protection. Employees that would like Copilot for Microsoft 365 must purchase a license through the ITS Business Office at itspurchasing@uconn.edu. Licenses cost $30 per person per month.
