ITS has updated the classroom technology lifecycle plan.
Classroom technology at the university was historically funded ad-hoc, typically with end of year resources. This produced significant variation and unpredictable refresh. Starting in 2014, ITS began implementing a comprehensive lifecycle plan for the educational technology installed in all centrally scheduled classrooms. The plan was primarily funded by the Student Tech Fee and was designed to provide a common, contemporary standard for a predictable, high-quality instructor and student experience. Aggressive scheduling, close coordination with the University Classroom Committee, and additional financial support from the Office of the Provost has allowed us to achieve a stable five year lifecycle. At the start of this academic year, no equipment was more than five years old, and we are committed to a capital plan that will maintain our classrooms going forward.
